Welcome To Bailey Manor Christian Retirement Center

A Brief History With the birth of the Presbyterian Church in America in the early 1970s, members sensed the need for the establishment of a retirement community for members of the PCA and other Christian adults needing help in their senior years. A ministry of mercy known as Carolina Christian Ministries, Inc. was formed to explore opportunities for service. Under the leadership and vision of Dr. Thomas Cross, a group of church leaders established Bailey Manor in Clinton in the late 1980s.

The central location in the upstate of South Carolina proved to be a convenient site to a large number of PCA churches located in and near the cities of Greenville, Spartanburg, Anderson, and Columbia. A lead gift from members of Westminster PCA in Clinton secured the purchase of the former Bailey Memorial Hospital, and the property began to take shape, section by section, as funds were raised for the extensive renovations needed to transform the 65,000 square-foot hospital into the beautiful residence that it is today. Bailey Manor opened to its first residents in September 1991 with approximately one-fourth of the building being prepared for independent living. The following year more apartments were added, and in 1993 the residential care (assisted living) wing was completed. Other renovations continued in the following years, increasing the number of apartments to thirty-three in addition to the twenty beds in assisted living. The latest project, completed in 2003, included the beautiful Anderson Chapel and courtyard, providing a versatile new space for worship and fellowship. Twenty acres of land holds the promise of additional facilities in the future as the Lord provides the resources for its development.
